A LITTLE HISTORY ON THE CREATION OF THE NEEDS AND WISHES FUNDRAISER

In 2006 several Los Osos citizens had been involved with donating to the Maxine Lewis Memorial Shelter Program.  While being involved with the shelter they realized there was no fundraising arm for the program and the shelter was in need of assistance.  These highly motivated individuals began to coordinate and collaborate with many other willing volunteers.  These volunteers went out to the community and encouraged community participation. This group approached school choirs, dancers, and more for entertainment on the day of the event.  All items for the auction, the Toy Store, food for the event, etc. are all donated.  Use of the South Bay Community Center for the day before, of, and after the event has been given for free every year.  Everything associated with the event is donated or sponsored, 100% of the proceeds go directly to the Maxine Lewis Memorial Shelter. A very gracious, private donor gives matching funds at the end of the event.  All donations are tax deductible.  Please bring all of your pocket change to fill the 5 gallon bottles (pocket change alone raised nearly $2,500.00 last year).  20% of the money raised at this event will be set aside for the future Homeless Services Center.
