Tickets on sale for 25th Anniversary Afternoon of Epicurean Delights

On Sunday, June 3, 2012, Community Action Partnership will be hosting the 25th anniversary Afternoon of Epicurean Delights at the beautiful Chapman Estate in Shell Beach.  This event benefits the work of our health division.  Our honorees for 2012 will be Janice Fong Wolf, Director of Grants and Programs for the San Luis Obispo Community Foundation and Clifford Chapman & Don Shidler, of Shell Beach.  Each year, Clifford and Don host Afternoon of Epicurean Delights at their lovely seaside estate and they are two of our region’s most prominent philanthropists.  Tickets are $100 each and may be purchased here.

Community Action Partnership health programs provide health screenings and care to uninsured and underinsured populations throughout San Luis Obispo County.  Two programs in particular are of great importance.  First, our 40 Wonderful program provides complete gynecological screenings and mammograms to uninsured and underinsured women in menopause as well as pre and post-menopausal women up to age 65.  Care is provided on a sliding scale or no charge based on income.  The second program is Adult Wellness and Prevention Screening.  This mobile health unit provides a visit with our nurse at 17 locations throughout San Luis Obispo County each month.  Any uninsured or underinsured adult 18 years of age or above may simply stop in and see our nurse at one of our sites without an appointment and at no-cost.  It is the only program of its type in San Luis Obispo County.  Initiatives like these require support from good friends like you to thrive and grow.  The recession and subsequent reduction of workplace-based health insurance has made these programs a life-line to our neighbors without access to medical care.  Of utmost importance is the following fact:  no person seeking care through these programs is ever asked to produce a health insurance card or sign papers promising payment as a condition of being seen by one of our healthcare professionals.
