Family Child Care Program Option
Our Migrant and Seasonal Head Start (MSHS) offers families a Family Child Care program option in all eight of our service counties.
With the Family Child Care program option, contracted family day care homes are used to provide services for children primarily ages 0-2. In areas where a center is not available then the program will provide services for children age 0-5. This particular model allows flexibility to provide infant care in isolated areas or where the center is not equipped to care for infants under the age of 18 months. The Head Start Performance Standards provide the guidance for the administration of this program model. The family childcare providers are monitored and receive support and training from the MSHS Specialists.
Currently, the MSHS program serves 497 children using the Family Child Care option.
