Let
the SLO County VITA Coalition provide you with FREE tax preparation
services this season! From January through April, CAPSLO, in
partnership with United Way, will offer free tax help to low- to
moderate-income individuals and families who qualify for the annual free
tax preparation assistance program. The Federal Government, through the
IRS, offers the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) to working people who
earn low- and moderate-income. This tax credit is designed to reduce the
tax burden on these workers, and supplement their wages. |
FACTS
It was estimated that in 2004, $12 million in EITC
went unclaimed in Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties.
In 2007, the average refund received by VITA recipients was $1,266.
