Originally written and performed in 2003, Teen Monologues has since grown into an annual collaboration that builds on over a decade of teen stories. Composed as a series of monologues and scenes, Teen Monologues is based on interviews and surveys from local teens and teen parents.

This performance reflects the state of teen pregnancy in our community and beyond, moving past facts and statistics and into the emotional undercurrent that thousands of teens are swept into every day. John Battalino, the director since its inception, continues to dedicate his time and love to ensure that Teen Monologues receives accolades from community members for its acting and staging. With over 25 years of experience, John brings insight to every rehearsal. In addition to a community performance at the SLO Little Theatre, Teen Monologues is performed in schools throughout SLO County. Over 600 students and parents are impacted by this touching play every year. With the support of CAPSLO staff and community leaders, Teen Monologues has been recreated in 5 California counties. The continued dedication of program manager and creator Francine Levin, local writers, actors, and directors, has helped Teen Monologues grow into a movement that extends beyond our county.
